God's Love is Real
I notice that a lot of people only believe in God when good things happen. When bad things happen they lose faith in God. But life on Earth was not meant to be a good time, ever. Life on Earth follows the laws of Nature. The laws of Nature are cruel. Exactly as science observation tells us. So it is a tribulation. Buddhists have being saying for 2500 years that life is inherently full of tragedy. If we base our faith on the view that God's love means that things will always work out well for us on this Earth, we are CERTAIN to lose our faith. There is no basis whatsoever to think such a thing. One recalls the story of Job in the Bible. Earthly life HAS to be full of ARBITRARY suffering where good and bad things are scattered randomly among people and animals. But the dimension of Spirit has sent us endless messages for thousands of years that Earthly suffering in the end is ALWAYS cancelled out because there is no suffering in Spirit and we always return to spirit. It is inportant to DISCONNECT our experiences on Earth, good and bad, for our destination in the spiritual dimension. Only in that dimension are we free from suffering. Our faith CANNOT depend on whether things go well for us doen here or not but on developing an understanding about the relationship between life in Body as life in Spirit. All the evidence is from NDE testimonies is that God loves us. Regardless of what terrible things may or may not hapoen to us down here, that's a fact. We cannot expect a simple correlation between God's love and our experiences down here. This is why Faith is hard : the truth is counter intuitive and is very different from the way it looks.
In all ages and times, Faith has been both hard and essential for this very reason. Loss of faith comes from failing to understand that we do NOT get what we think we deserve down here.
Imagine you were told that the table in front of you was not solid but mostly empty space. If you became small enough you would see NOTHING. The table would entirely VANISH. Or even that all of physical reality including everything we experience is ultimately NOT REAL? What would we think of that? We'd probably say 'Nonsense! That can't be right.y experience tells me otherwise.' But it's true. The Nobel Prize for Physics was awarded in 2022 to Alain Aspect and his colleagues for showing via photon experiments over 40 years that reality is NONLOCAL and spacetime is not ultimately real at all but might be a Matrix projection of what is real. If we can accept that even the Natural World isn't real in the way we think it is, as shown by science itself, how can we judge God by what happens here ? Counter intuitively : you CANNOT. Therefore no matter what terrible things we experience down here, we must and should rely in the thousands of testimonial evidence that God's Love is REAL and we are all loved.
Facebook post by myself on 9th March 2024 on an NDE site on which somebody expressed doubts because bad things happened to them.
Facebook post 22 May 2024:
I think that Professor Lennox made one of the greatest speeches I have ever heard in support of theism. And a key profound point : while the reasons for the manifestation of evil and suffering in this world and what Hod would could should do about it etc remain furiously controversial, only belief in the redemptive power of the story of Christ offers a clear solution to our moral demands. Atheism offers a point of view but no moral solution whatsoever. Beyond that you can believe whatever you want. It's a free country. But the Truth is whatever it really is. As for me, we'll, I remain a "free thinker" but I'd choose Christ's redemption any day over the bleak nihilism of Crick or Dawkins or pathetic pastors who preached a faith they then turned their backs on because they didn't have the strength of intellect of feeling to really look at the evidence.
Let me remind my fellow enquirers of one of these since so many of us look to Science for all the answers.
In 1964 Irish physicist developed Bell's Theorem which observed that Realitt is essentially transcendent of Spacetime, not just the nsnoreality of the quantum but macroreality.
By 1982 Roger Aspect, Anton Zeilinger and their team showed from photon experiments that transcendent ( beyond spacetime laws) phenomena such as particle entanglement and nonlocality were not just theoretical but real
By 1922 this team finally got the Nobel prize in physics for proving beyond doubt that Bell's Theorem which completely bypasses Spacetime and its laws was true. There is even less doubt about thst now than there is in newtonian mechanics and no sane person doubts that. As Stephen Hawking said, science is believable because it WORKS.
Indeed.
What we have now learned from this very Science though most scientists can't get their dull heads around it is that. .
1. Spacetime is a projection of Deep Reality
2. Deep Reality is transcendent (beyond) Spacetime
3. What is beyond Spacetime CANNOT BE OBSERVED DIRECTLY but only inferred reliably and accurstely from clues within Spacetime ( dark energy and dark matter are examples of content within Spacetime- actually 96 per cent of it - which we are so far UNABLE to observe but may know more about INDIRECTLY one day
4. Therefore to expect to know God directly through Science is absurd ( but to infer God indirectly through clues such as Bell's transcendence, cosmic fine tuning and the Big Bang is more elegant and parsimonious than desperate materialistic hypotheses such as Everett's Many Worlds)
5. God therefore remains an extremely strong hypothesis (see Stephen C. Meyer's work on this subject) even if ancient accounts such as the Biblical New Testament or Native American, Hindu or Aboriginal creation stories read like fairy tales.
6. Fairy tales, like myths and allegories, like poetry, can be metaphors for profound truths apprehended in ways that are difficult or impossible to describe in ordinary words of experience. If you or I encountered some ineffable truth that you could not describe or explain, what would you do if people asked you about it? You'd make up a story.
7. In modern times some very practical scientists have had ineffable experiences. Astronaut and physicist Michael Collins had one of those when orbiting the Earth. He KNEW it wasn't just "all,in jis head" but couldn't prove it so he founded the Institute of Noetic Sciences in California to investigate hyperreality through scientific methods.
